A YEN TO TRADE
Grades 3-6

Get your students excited about geography, economics, critical thinking, math, etc.

Bring the "global" into your classroom with this integrated curriculum:

that engages students in activities demonstrating the benefits of trade, beginning with a "flea" market.

where pairs of students play the roles of the tortoise and the hare, working together to win a contest. Through trial-and-error, they discover the benefits of specialization, and learn about comparative advantage.

that includes a story about how a boy and girl appear to use magic to solve a problem their village has. But all is not as it seems as their magic is revealed to be nothing more than good economics.

All 15 lessons are activity-based and engage students in concepts by doing. NO BACKGROUND IN ECONOMICS IS NEEDED. All curriculum materials and the workshop are free.
