The
Financial Fitness for Life series is an award-winning curriculum that
is correlated to standards in language arts, mathematics, economics
and personal finance. Each lesson includes background information, preparation
materials, student activities and assessments.
The Steps
to Financial Fitness curriculum for grades 3-5 has 15 activity-based
lessons where students make strategic decisions about earning an income,
saving and spending money, using credit and budgeting. Sample activities
include:

Analyzing why the
pay for various jobs is different
☼
Differentiating between
fact and opinion in advertisements
☼
Role playing the
buying of goods and services with different methods of payment
☼
Analyzing a fable
to determine the opportunity cost of not saving
Activities are available
for assignment to be completed at home with parents, using the Parent
Guide for Financial Fitness.
The workshop is free
and participants get a Teacher’s Guide, a Student Workbook, a Parent
Guide, and a CD-Rom. NO ECONOMICS BACKGROUND IS REQUIRED.
