CHILDREN’S LITERATURE AND PERSONAL FINANCE
GRADE 2-3

 


Language arts and mathematics, two of the major thrusts of the No Child Left Behind initiative, are brought together in this workshop. Fifteen lessons use children’s literature classics to teach personal finance. As students engage in the activities that accompany each lesson, they also get a good math workout, too! Students learn about saving, responsible consuming, etc., all in the context of children’s literature. Books used are:

  • My Rows and Piles of Coins

  • Sheep in a Shop

NO BACKGROUND IN ECONOMICS IS NEEDED. All curriculum materials, and prizes provided.
